ASL 1, 2 & 3 Coupons
Coupons will be used to monitor your use of ASL in the classroom. They will be part of the (oral) language use part of your grade. Each coupon is worth one point. Coupons will be collected approximately every week (five points every week is the goal.). You can earn up to two extra credit coupons per cycle.
There are three possible grades you can earn…A, C, or F
You need: 5 coupons to earn an A 5 points
4 coupons to earn a C 4 points
3 coupons to earn an F 3 points
You will start with three coupons.
Earning Coupons
You may earn coupons in the following ways:
IF you have already tried to say what you need to say in ASL and absolutely cannot, you can ask teacher for permission to speak in English. (ME VOICE PLEASE?) (Classmates CANNOT give you permission to speak English!!!)
If your teacher doesn’t give you permission to speak English, it is because she believes in your ability to communicate your message in ASL. TRY AGAIN!
You can take coupons from teachers, student instructors, and classmates if you hear them speaking in English. (COUPON GIVE-ME PLEASE)
Losing Coupons
The teacher, student instructor, and other classmates may take coupons away from you if they hear you speaking English. However, classmates must be able to correct you in ASL.
When you are asked to give up one of your coupons, PLEASE do not whine, argue, point, or sulk as you may lose two coupons instead of only one.
